Storytelling is at the heart of every project we develop here at FGreat.

And now we have another powerful tool to transmit our ideas to a global audience: Virtual Reality.

In 2017, for the first time, an auction house commissioned designers to create 360 degree experiences of works of art.

The challenge was to offer an immersive experience of renowned paintings for the Surrealist Art Evening Sale. And our team was the one chosen by Sotheby.

After five weeks of intensive work, we brought a lion to life, transporting the audience into René Magritte’s painting Le Repas de Noces.

According to Sotheby’s, the VR technology added to the depth of understanding of each painting.

“It made me appreciate the art, and the work of the artists, in two different ways”, highlighted the tech writer Andy Boxall, in a piece for Digital Trends.

The uniqueness of the project received great media attention. “Walking around a ‘Daliscape’ is an ethereal walk around a virtual desert, almost tripping over the 3D images ahead while glancing behind and around in a disconcerting, but ultimately, satisfying amble”, wrote Forbes contributor Monty Munford, describing his VR experience of Salvador Dali’s Moment de Transition
