We are taken on a journey to Monet’s garden in Giverny (northern France) to understand the mesmerizing power of its pond and plants.
Maintained to near perfection, the pond and the waterlilies offered a wealth of inspiration that the master went on to explore for the rest of his life.
“It took me some time to understand my water lilies. I planted them purely for pleasure”, told Monet to a visitor to his studio. While we revisit archive pictures and examine the details of this fantastic painting, this gentle voice guides us, revealing more about the landscape and his process of creation.
Produced for Sotheby’s for the auction of ‘Nymphéas’ (1908), the film presents us to the artist’s experimental exploration that marked his late work.
